Gearbox Software, the game developer behind Borderlands, announced their brand new I.P. Battleborn today. The developer classifies the game as a “hero-shooter” with “an expansive collection of diverse heroes to create an experience unlike anything you’ve played before”. It sounds like Battleborn will be a first person shooter MOBA. Players will either team up with four other friends to work through “…a narrative-driven co-operative campaign or battle against them in fast-paced competitive multiplayer matches.”
Along with the announcement a CGI trailer was released show off some of the “heroes” as well as give us a quick look at the Battleborn world. The game takes place in a distant future where “…the only hope for the last star in a dying universe is a new breed of warriors who must put aside their differences to drive back an unstoppable menace.” President of Gearbox Randy Pitchford called the game “…the most ambitious video game that Gearbox has ever created.”
Battleborn will be the cover story in the upcoming Game Informer magazine and Gearbox promised there will be more information within the issue of the magazine. The game is currently in development for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. There was no announcement of release date or gameplay footage shown, but for now you can check out the announcement trailer, the games box art and the Game Informer cover below.
